Boxing superstar Floyd Mayweather is facing legal action from his ex-wife after he accused her of undergoing an abortion while pregnant with twins and posted a sonogram photo on the web. Shantel Jackson also added allegations of assault, stating that he pointed a gun at hear in 2013 and grabbed her in a choke hold a year earlier in 2012.
“I have been embarrassed and humiliated more than I can ever imagine by Floyd,” said 29-year-old Jackson at Thursday’s press conference.
“Ms. Jackson was terrified for her safety, and humiliated by Mayweather’s conduct,” added Gloria Allred, Jackson’s legal representative.
Much of the dispute relates to the actions of Mayweather earlier this year, when he posted a sonogram image and accused his ex-wife of ‘killing’ the couple’s unborn twin babies.
“The real reason me and Shantel Christine Jackson @missjackson broke up was because she got an abortion, and I’m totally against killing babies. She killed our twin babies,” read the sonogram’s accompanying caption.
Gloria Allred insisted that his actions represented an unacceptable breach of privacy and had devastated Miss Jackson.
“Every woman has a right to privacy and there is no excuse for invading anyone’s privacy, especially about what is happening in one’s own body and one’s own medical records,” she said.
“I never stated that she had an abortion or didn’t have an abortion,”
“I will just say that it was devastating to her to have him do what he did, and it’s clear to me that it was to hurt her,”
“Floyd Mayweather Jr. may make his living inflicting pain on others in the boxing ring, but he has no right to force Shantel to endure the pain that he inflicted on her outside of the boxing ring.”
