The recession may be biting hard for some, but at the other end of the chain it’s just another year of rich-pickings and luxury living. And never a name to pass up the opportunity to take ostentatiousness to new heights, London’s Selfridges department store has just installed the very first champagne vending machine in the world – just in case your cravings get the better of you while out splashing the cash.
The iconic Oxford Street store has a world-renowned reputation for indulgence, so the Moet & Chandon vending machine won’t look at all out of place. Aimed at the wealthy and frivolous looking to get into the holiday spirit while doing their Christmas shopping, these high-brow sodas will set you back a lofty £17.99 each – or about $25 to you and me.
And don’t worry about too many rich kids having access to the machines and causing a nuisance – you have to buy a token before you can actually use the machine…it doesn’t take cash.
Not that the $25 investment sees you coming away with no more than a fizzy drink – the exclusive Moet & Chandon bottle itself is decorated with a bunch of Swarovski crystals and makes a pretty sweet keepsake in its own right.
“This year, Selfridges have taken Christmas to a whole new level, transforming the entire fourth floor into a one-stop destination for gifting,” said Dawn Davies on behalf of Selfridges.
“The inclusion of the world’s first Moet vending machine makes a decadent addition to our Christmas emporium.”
Decadent…you’re not kidding!
