Pool parties sound like great fun for most people, and they serve as a great way to let off some steam after a long, hard week of work and/or school. But there’s always that one person or two at the party who looks like he or she would rather be somewhere else. This is especially true if the person can’t swim, or if they’re simply the introverted type who’d rather be watching a Doctor Who marathon at home with some chips and soda than splashing around and cracking a beer with the rest of the gang. Believe it or not, that too applies to dogs, particularly the one some people are now calling the “socially awkward dog” from Norfolk, Virginia.
Since the video was posted last week, the clip of a dog named Beya sitting in the middle of a pool and not mingling with the other dogs has gone viral, having been shared close to 300,000 times and gotten close to 90,000 reactions. It’s also been viewed more than 15,000 times since being posted. And in this video, the Chesapeake Bay retriever Beya is not swimming or playing with the other dogs at a canine pool party at Norfolk’s Happy Tails Resort.
Aside from being dubbed as the “socially awkward dog,” Beya has been nicknamed the “Non Swimming Dog,” though resort officials claim that she ordinarily likes to swim. Guess that time she simply wasn’t in any mood to party, though if Beya can read, we’d like to say that it’s all good. It happens to the best of us humans, and yes, even the most extroverted of us sometimes aren’t in any condition or mood to party on down.
