After a seemingly endless cycle of mysterious teasers, Queens of the Stone Age have finally confirmed the name of their upcoming album. Going by the name of ‘Villains’, a brief snippet of one of the album’s tracks has also been made public.
All by way of perhaps the single best piece of pre-album-launch PR you’re ever likely to see.
The clip was first teased in a Twitter post earlier this week and features Josh Homm strapped to a lie detector, while being asked a series of questions by Liam Lynch. By lying through his teeth, Homm reveals the name of the new albums, confirms the new song snippet is the real deal and names Mark Ronson as the album’s producer.
Who also happens to appear in the clip in rather tongue-in-cheek style.
The new song is called “Feet Don’t Fail Me” and seems to keep in-line with Homm’s promise of a more “uptempo” outing than recent QOTSA material. It’s the first album the guys have put out since “Like Clockwork” all the way back in 2013 and expectations are off the charts.
